It’s been a while. I’ve been occupied you see. I’ve been perilously dangling from the side of a cliff in fact. Yes, all this time I’ve been hanging on for dear life waiting for people to stop laughing and pointing and actually rescue me. That might sound funny but it was definitely not a laughing matter – well I did get a giggle or two when it was time to toilet and there was a particularly big crowd below but beyond that it was a very stressful time of my life.
I’ve seen countless news reports in the past of people hanging from cliffs for weeks and months on end but not once did I ever think it could happen to me. Well I’ve learnt my lesson, that’s the last time I do my BMX stunts that close to the edge and I’ll definitely cut down on my precipice skateboarding too.
Since I’ve been back, I set up a charity, Cliff Support. But it kind of broke up when I took a group of us to a theme park and managed to coax them onto a ride called Freefall Frightmare. And as I sat watching from a nearby bench I quickly realised my mistake. The screams were so piercing that apparently 50 dogs in the local area exploded.
I’ll be honest I still have a fear of heights. An old friend called Hank once said to me that to get over a fear it’s best to confront it head on. Apparently he had a fear of guns. After his death the coroner said suicide but I know the truth. Hank was the bravest and dumbest man I ever met.
I think I’ll take things a little slower though. I’m thinking a bungee jump from 30 feet to start with; nothing could go wrong with that. Could it?
